Field Seminar: Geography of Communities
This project focused on the geography of communities, as a class we rode around the City of Eau Claire on bikes to investigate the different residential areas. My case study topic aimed to explore dog parks, leashing policies, neighborhood interactions, and individual characteristics throughout different communities based on dog friendliness. I used field work for investigating and published articles to complete my final paper on the topic.
Watershed Analysis of Coon Creek, WI

I participated and completed a project that involved the Coon Creek Watersheds, located in Western Wisconsin. We decided to explore this area because every spring, this valley experiences extreme flooding and huge depletion of sediment in low lying areas. Within this valley, we found a total of four watersheds. After examining and taking photos, in the lab I was able to map out the different watersheds through ArcGIS. The map created was used in my final project paper.

Student Faculty Research Paper and Capstone Presentation

Subsurface Investigation of Cape Kolka, Latvia: A Strandplain Along the Baltic Coast

My final Capstone Presentation was on my research conducted in Latvia, where I investigated the subsurface using ground penetrating radar (GPR). This site was chosen due to the increase of cyclonic weather and strong wind directions, causing beach erosion and accumulation of sediments along the coast. Topography, drone imagery, and GPS were key tool also used in the investigation. Data that was collected and processed was then presented as a presentation and paper. Results were also presented at the American Association of Geographers (AAG) Conference in 2021.
