About Me

Hello, I hope you are having a great day! My name is Hailee Jefferies, I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Geography.

I am now entering the workforce, looking for a full-time job in a field related to the environment and GIS. I am originally from New Lisbon, Wisconsin, but have recently relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado to pursue a career involving sustainability, conversation, and/or GIS.

I found my passion within environmental geography after taking a course in conservation of the environment as a freshman. Soon after, I declared my major as Environmental Geography because I knew that I wanted to make a change. I am very passionate about learning, practicing, and developing systems and techniques for humans to coexist with nature more efficiently.

Extra things about me: I love to read, paint, go on hikes, hang out with friends and family, and traveling.

Professional History

Being a lifelong learner is a trait that is really important to me, and I know that a good education is not just from class but also experience and field work. A lot of skill and lessons were created in the classroom, while others I have learned from professional mentors, team members, and in some cases friends, family, and community.  Read about my professional journey and get in touch with any questions.

Kids in Preschool

Teacher

September 2021- May 2022

I began working at the Family Tree Daycare, located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin as a part time job as I was going through college. I started out as an assistant teacher, assisting children in development of social, communication, and problem-solving skills. I practiced safe and clean strategies to complete daily health and sanitization recommendations. A year later, I was promoted to head teacher, where I developed and implemented daily lesson plans and activities for children of various ages. I communicated with parents and coworkers about daily activities and any concerning behaviors. In May 2022, I left the daycare to move back home to begin my moving process to Fort Collins.

Research Assistant

July 2019 - May 2021

In July 2019, I traveled with a Professor and several other geography students to conduct research in Lithuania to investigate mass Jewish burial sites using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and in Latvia to explore changing coastal environments, also using GPR. During this time, I became efficient in survey equipment such as GPR, laser levelers, and GPS. I collaborated and consulted effective techniques and strategies with team members to assure accruacy within the data collected. The months to follow after we collected this data in Eastern Europe, I processed the data and prepared reports, presentations, and articles for meetings, presentations, and other events. I presented my findings at the American Association of Geographers (AAG) Conference (2021).

Manufacturing Assembly

Final Assembler

June 2020 - August 2020

During the summer of COVID-19, I was hired on as summer help for a final assembler position at Leer, INC., in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. I assisted in finalizing and inspecting the overall visual and mechanical quality verifications to meet customer specifications. I was capable of meeting physical work demands and excellent problem-solving/critical thinking skills to perform job duties with little oversight. By communicating effectively with coworkers and administration, as a team we were able to complete demanding projects under tight deadlines. I left in August 2020 to head back to Eau Claire, Wisconsin for school.
